Just like desert tortoises need winter rain to grow the annual plants they rely on to survive, we need you to keep us going year after year! Your generosity helps us acquire more habitat, do critical restoration work like invasive plant removal and fence repairs, and funds important research and community outreach, like our onsite spring naturalist program and ongoing raven control efforts.

Subscription Giving/Donor (Members/Non-Members)

The Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee, Inc. relies on support from its members and donors. Without this support, the hard work needed to implement Desert Tortoise conservation would not be possible. If you would like to help protect Desert Tortoises,  please use the Donation button below to make a one-time, or monthly contribution.

Donate to Our Endowment

The goal of a permanent unrestricted endowment fund is to provide the Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee with a steady source of income to fund the daily operations into perpetuity. This will allow us to grow and meet our objectives without the need for consistent fundraising campaigns.

Stock, Bond, or Mutual Fund Gifts

The donation of appreciated marketable securities to our endowment fund gives donors an excellent charitable tax planning opportunity. Appreciated marketable securities are investments that have increased in value from the time they were purchased and these securities are usually publicly-traded stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. We are a California Nonprofit Corporation and are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) and California organization. Charitable gifts to the Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee, Inc. are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Consult your tax professional for complete details.

For larger donations, please contact Investment Committee Chair Greg Lathrop, at email hidden; JavaScript is required or 415-637-7187

Join a Workplace Giving Campaign

We are affiliates of EarthShare California, a campaign that allows workers in California to designate a nominal price per pay period ($1, $5, $10, etc.) to be donated to a charity. If you are interested in joining this campaign, please visit earthshare.org.

Bequests in Wills or Trusts

You can create a legacy that will reflect the values you hold dear while serving as an example for younger generations. A well-designated estate plan can result in your estate paying less tax, allowing you to leave more to your beneficiaries. If you wish to name us in your will or estate plan, we should be named: Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee, a non-profit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of the State of California, with a principal business address of PO Box 940, Ridgecrest, CA 93556. Our tax identification number is 23-7413415.
